Vision, Mission, & Values

Our Core Values
The people of Hebron Lutheran Church embrace these values which give joy to our hearts and empower us to spend our lives in sacrificial service to God and others:

Love

Scripture Basis:  John 3:16; 1 John 4:19; 1 John 4:21

God first loved us.  God loves us too much to leave us broken, so He sent His son, Jesus Christ, who conquered sin and death, restoring a life-giving relationship with Him and one another.  God’s love frees us to grow more loving and Christ-like.

 Christ – Centered Life
    Scripture Basis:  Philippians 2:9-11; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; James 1:22

We value the Bible as the inspired and true Word of God, the only sure guide and authority for all faith, decision-making and action in life.  Scripture reveals God’s heart, mind and will to us so we know how to flourish in life.  Jesus Christ is the beginning and the end--the very heart and soul--of all we say and do.

Grace
Scripture Basis:  John 3:17; Ephesians 2:8; Romans 10:9

We are saved by God’s grace alone, through faith.  Grace is God’s free and undeserved gift to all who turn to Him and accept His love.  A living faith in Jesus Christ always bears fruit in Christ-like acts of love, in gratitude for what God has done for us.

Service
     Scripture Basis:  Mark 12:30-31; 1 John 3:17-18; Ephesians 4:11-12

Jesus calls us to love God with our whole heart, mind, soul and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves.  Our everyday lives are where we participate with God in building up others by sharing the gifts God has given us.

Growth
Scripture Basis:  Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians 4:14-16; Psalm 119:129-130

Jesus commands believers to “go and make disciples of all nations.”  We seek to grow in faith, knowledge and love as we study God’s Word.  We share His Message through mission and ministry, especially with those who don’t yet know God’s love.

Hospitality
   Scripture Basis:  Hebrews 13:1-3; 1 Peter 4:8-10; 3 John 1:5-6

We invite, welcome, accept and care for every person--body, mind and spirit--just as God does.  We strive to connect everyone through small group, mission and ministry opportunities, so all can develop a fuller and more meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ and each other.

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”   Matthew 28:18-20a NIV
